Cookie Notice

Version 0.2Last updated: May 2026

This cookie notice explains which cookies and similar technologies we use on taxibuddy.be, why we use them, how long they are stored and how you can change your choice. Our cookie notice complements our Privacy Notice.

We have not appointed a formal Data Protection Officer (DPO) — our scale does not legally require it. Our internal contact for cookie and privacy questions is managing director Jarno Cools, reachable via privacy@taxibuddy.be.

For complaints about privacy or cookies you can always contact us first. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (GBA), Drukpersstraat 35, 1000 Brussels — dataprotectionauthority.be.

2. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device (computer, tablet or smartphone) when you visit it. They are used to make the website work properly, to remember your preferences, or to measure in an anonymised way how the website is used.

In this notice we use "cookies" as an umbrella term. It also covers similar technologies such as localStorage and sessionStorage when they serve the same purposes.

3. Essential cookies (always active)

These cookies are needed to make the website work correctly or to remember your explicit choice (e.g. your cookie consent). Under the ePrivacy Directive, no consent is required for these cookies.

These cookies contain no information that could identify or track you commercially.

4. Analytics cookies (only with your consent)

These cookies measure how visitors use our website so we can improve it. They are only set after you have explicitly clicked "Accept" in our cookie banner.

_ga_<MEAS_ID>Google Analytics 4Manages the session state per Google Analytics propertyThird-party2 years

We use Google Analytics with IP anonymisation enabled and with Google Consent Mode v2 in "deny-by-default" mode. Concretely this means:

  • Without your consent, no analytics cookies are set and no identifiable data is sent to Google.
  • With your consent, only anonymised usage statistics are shared.
  • We have set the retention period for Google Analytics data to a maximum of 14 months.

5. Which cookies do we NOT use?

We consider it important to state this explicitly:

  • No marketing cookies — we set no Meta/Facebook Pixel, no LinkedIn Insight Tag, no TikTok Pixel.
  • No Google Ads conversion tracking.
  • No advertising networks.
  • No tracking pixels in our e-mails.
  • No cross-site tracking for profile building.

Our website exists solely for B2B acquisition of Belgian taxi companies. We have no advertising business model.

6. Third-party cookies

One external party sets cookies on our website after you have given consent:

Transfers to the United States take place under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (Google is certified), supplemented by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses (SCCs).

For an overview of all external parties that may in any way see personal data of our customers, see our Sub-processor list.

7. Bot detection on forms

When you fill in certain forms (such as the onboarding form for taxi companies) we use Google reCAPTCHA v3 to distinguish automated requests (bots) from real visitors.

In doing so, reCAPTCHA collects — even without you clicking anything — limited technical information such as your IP address, browser fingerprint and mouse/typing behaviour on the page. This processing is not based on cookies in the strict sense, but we mention it here for transparency.

Legal basis: legitimate interest (fraud and spam protection). You can find more details in Google's privacy policy and their reCAPTCHA terms.

8. How do you give consent?

On your first visit to taxibuddy.be you will see our cookie banner at the bottom with two clear choices:

  • Accept all — analytics cookies are set.
  • Refuse all — only the essential cookies remain active.

Until you make a choice, no analytics cookies are set (Google Consent Mode v2 deny-by-default).

Your choice is stored in the first-party cookie tb_consent and remains valid for 1 year. After that period we will ask for your consent again.

9. How do you change your choice?

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time:

  • Via our website — click the "Cookie preferences" link in our website footer. The cookie banner reappears and you can adjust your choice.
  • Via your browser — all modern browsers let you view, block or delete cookies per website. See the instructions for Chrome, Firefox, Safari or Edge.

Blocking all cookies entirely may cause some parts of the website (e.g. the cookie banner itself or your login) to stop working correctly.

10. What about "Do Not Track"?

Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. At present there is neither a legal obligation nor an international agreement on how websites must handle this signal. We treat a DNT signal as equivalent to refused consent — no analytics cookies are set in that case.

11. Changes to this cookie notice

When we start using new cookies or change existing ones, we update this page and the version number above. For significant changes we show the cookie banner again so you can make your choice anew.
